Arlington National Cemetery History
Olinger Crown Hill will be hosting a "Lecture in the Arboretum"
featuring Thomas Sherlock, senior historian at Arlington National
Cemetery. This will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3 in
the Pavilion of Reflection located at 7777 W. 29th Ave. in Wheat
Ridge. Sherlock will discuss the fascinating history of Arlington
and this is free to the community.
Dinosaur Discovery Day: Raptor Day!
Saturday Sept 6th, 2008 ? 10AM - 2:30PM ? Dinosaur Ridge
The Friends of Dinosaur Ridge with the Morrison Natural History
Museum, Jeffco Public Libraries, Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory,
and the Lookout Mountain Nature Center bring you Raptor Day!
The event also be held at the Morrison Museum, where they have
a wing dedicated to the connection of Dinosaurs and Birds with
skeletons of a Velociraptor and an ostrich, as well as a live
monitor lizard. You can learn more about dinosaurs and their
modern relatives at the Visitor Center with the Feathered Family
Tree station, and even see some mounted raptors at the Rocky
Mountain Bird Observatory booth!
At the Visitor Center from 10AM to 2 PM the KNOTT'S KIDS PROGRAM
from the Jefferson County Public Library will unveil "Possibilities
Through Reading," a display of library books especially
for young scientists, AND "Dinosaur Story Time" to
be presented periodically.
Also at the Visitor Center "Hands-on Dinosaurs", several
fun activities for kids including the Stegosaurus Branding,
the Edmontosaurus Bone Dig, the Grallator Track Lab ($1), the
Coloring Studio, and the Cretaceous Crossroads Track Site. The
Stegosaurus Snack Shack will also be hosting Dino Puppet Shows
throughout the day for ages 3-6.
